Don’t let summer get your hair colour down.

Do you live at the beach all summer long, or lounge by the pool, swim in chlorine? Then you know that this isn’t a great mix for your lightened hair.

We are giving you the low down on how to keep your colour looking it’s best all summer long, it just needs a little bit of pre-swimming and sun love to care for your hair and let’s face it, no one likes the idea of greenish blonde on the ends at the end of a long day swimming.

Tip 1. Pre Treat your Hair before heading out in the sun, think of this like sunscreen for your hair - but it’s a treatment. Get a good leave in conditioner, you only need a small amount (50c piece size) a little goes a long way!

Tip 2. Avoid getting your hair wet in chlorine, we know the drill - it can turn your hair green, and this is just a hot mess waiting to happen. You don’t want your mum getting the old tomato sauce out and sitting like a sausage sizzle and the smell - no thank you.

Tip 3. Invest in a clarifying shampoo that’s also colour safe, this is an essential in all peoples shower routines if you’re a swimmer or beach lover - it’s so important to get the nasty out of your hair and cleanse it deep inside, and remove all the chemicals and also sand and salt water out of your hair.

Tip 4. Use a hair mask weekly, to insure the best condition of your hair. We see it all the times, girls coming in after a week at the beach and their hair is really dry and brittle. It’s often because you’ve left your good haircare at home and used what was in your accomodation, and most likely not rinsing and washing your hair after being out in the summer elements all day. When you use your mask - if it’s for hydration and no protein based, you can leave it in for a few hours and rinse that baby out. Your hair needs all the moisture it can get, and it will suck that mask up!
