Signature candy colours, sequins, the almighty ‘evil eye’ and studs for days. This is what we’ve come to know and love of our fellow Melbournian-based brand, Di$count Universe, and this is what they delivered at New York Fashion Week recently as part of the up and comers’ V Files show.

Titled Dreams and Screams, Di$count’s Autumn Winter 2015 collection indulges contradiction – alluring with playfulness and striking with a hit of sadism. The collection is ruled by the label’s signature punk-bomber jackets – canvas to hand-cut slogans and symbols – and this year introduces the addition of jeans equally frivolous. It’s frighteningly fabulous as was the hair direction – a bundle of texture riding high in an ode to the brand’s punk-roots – a teased amassment that fell into tamer texture for a mullet-meets-mohawk vibe.

Katy Perry loves Di$count and so do we – and we especially appreciate a once small Melbourne brand working it in the States. Go girls!
