The New Sixties

Sixties style has never felt so fresh. Just add bobby pins and a flash of colour

The New Sixties

There are three things we love here at Anaka – colour, leopard print and colour – and that’s exactly what Peter Som delivered via his New York Fashion Week AW 14 collection. Hair was directed by our friends at Wella Professionals, and borrowed from Som’s nod to the Sixties – incorporating a beautiful contemporary feel with the addition of coloured hair pieces in violet, pink, pewter and gold.

“Peter’s collection featured some beautiful prints which were slightly out of focus, giving a de-saturated feel to the colour which was slightly unnatural. I wanted to take this feel and apply it to the hair so we added hair pieces in the softest hues,” said Wella Professionals Hair Director, Eugene Souleiman.

“In terms of styling, elements such as the side parting, the bobby pin and the slightly raised crown give a nod to the Sixties but not in a retro way. I needed to keep the look fresh and cool, like they (the models) hadn’t tried too hard,” he said.

Powered by Wella Professionals’ revolutionary professional colour,, pop into Anaka for a subtle hint of pink or pewter, it’s the easy way to experiment with new trends minus drastic change!
